If you missed Birchover Carnival last week here’s some pictures from our source at the scene, Sandra Rimmer.

Visitors and local turned out in their droves for the Dales village’s celebration on July 18.

Crowds gathered to watch the procession of colourful fancy dress wind its way towards the playing fields.

The procession was led by the carnival queen, young Jessica Link, with music during the day provided by Ashover Brass Band, Bakewell Silver Band and the Breaston Highlanders.

Visitors enjoyed an afternoon of fun including entertainment by the Bonsall Red Barrows and a marching band display from the Breaston Highlanders.

The evening event was held at Barn Farm Campsite, with live music and a fantastic firework finale.

“It was a great success!” said organiser Sandra Rimmer.

“The carnival committee would like to thank local businesses, everyone who supported the event and Barn Farm Campsite for the use of their facilities during the evening.”

Next year’s carnival will take place on Saturday, July 16, 2016, with the committee to start fundraising in the very near future.
