BUMPER crowds enjoyed a right royal treat in the rain at the weekend when the Chatsworth International Horse Trials were staged.

Zara Phillips, the Queen’s granddaughter, spent her 30th birthday in action on the course at the spectacular home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire and was among the 500 competitors from 11 countries who braved the wet weather to take part in one of the biggest events on the equestrian calendar in this country.

The Chatsworth International Horse Trials was this year chosen to host the only UK round of the Federation Equestre Internationale World Cup Eventing competition and crowds flocked to enjoy the prestigious event.
