Thousands of fans will be travelling down to the national stadium to back Chesterfield in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy against Peterborough on Sunday, March 31.

In the build-up to the game, residents, businesses, workplaces and schools in Chesterfield are being encouraged to unite in backing Paul Cook’s team by decking out the town in team colours.

Sponsors Johnstone’s Paint have been bringing colour to the beautiful game since 2006, and are now asking fans to ‘Paint Chesterfield Blue’ on Thursday March 20.

People can display their ‘Paint the Town Blue’ efforts on Johnstone’s Paint Trophy social media channels, @JohnstonesPaint, on Twitter using #paintthetownblue or the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Facebook page, or create a board on Pinterest and follow Johnstone’s Trade.

The most impressive efforts will receive a special visit from the Johnstone’s Paint team and the trophy itself.

Ben Wilde, brand and sponsorship manager for Johnstone’s Paint, said: “We are asking everyone to take on the spirit of the competition and adorn the town using anything blue they can find – no decoration is too little or too much!

“It would be great to see shops and businesses backing the team by putting on blue displays in their windows and offices and schools taking part in non-uniform days to allow children to dress in blue.

“This is a real chance for the whole community to get behind the football club at a very exciting time.”

Johnstone’s Paint has suggested the following examples as fantastic ways for fans to get involved:

• Decorate the outside of your home or business with blue balloons, decorations or flags

• Dress your shop window in team colours

• Blue themed charity non-uniform day at work or school

• Bake blue cupcakes with blue decorations / the team crest

• Fly a blue flag on your car.
