This picture shows how a Diamond Jubilee was celebrated in rural Derbyshire over one Century ago.
Commemorating 60 years since Queen Victoria’s crowning in 1837, it’s safe to say the residents of Holloway pulled out all the stops to make sure the occasion was marked properly.
With horses and carriages, elegant flower arrangements, Sunday best outfits and gentlemen donning top hats - there’s no doubting that this is an iconic image of traditional England.
The shot was taken on Lea Shaw and shows the procession heading down the hill.
It was submitted by Nancy Slaney who remarks that the majority of the buildings shown in this picture are still standing today.
