There were sailors, dancers and even a frog king when Wessington Primary put on a play last week.

Pupils and audiences alike loved the all-singing, all-dancing production of The Button Box.

The musical tells the stories behind each of the buttons in a grandmother’s button box.

Jack Easom, as Sailor Jack, sang tales of the high seas, Elli Ferguson, as the Chinese Mandarin sang a song of the Frog King and Maia Brown, as Grandma, and Will Mayock, as Grandpa, told stories of treasured family memories.

The school also recently held its summer fair and well dressing board, during Wessington well dressing weekend.

A spokeswoman said: “We raised an amazing £1,350, which is incredible considering we only have 42 children in school. Huge thanks go to the PTA Friends of Wessington who organised the event.”
