Good news– the cost of the famous Matlock Bath Illuminations has been pegged this year.
On the back of the huge turnout to last year’s event the district council has been able to hold back on any increase, so adults can still get in for just £4 and children under 16 can experience the fun for free.
For the traders in Matlock Bath this will be a great boost but wouldn’t it be great if Matlock town iself could also benefit on the back of the event?
There are hoards of people packing the pavements in Matlock Bath every weekend throughout September and October but few of them seem to come any further.
I am sure the newly formed Town Team and its enthusiastic members must be able to come up with something which would tempt the punters into town before or after the main event.
How about we considered our own outdoor event in Hall Leys Park on the fireworks night and let the sky light up behind us?
Could Peak Rail link in via the main line to stage some sort of themed event?
It really would be fantastic if the investment made in Matlock Bath could benefit more of the area. Maybe the town could then contribute to the cost and help out its neighbouring traders. Just a thought.
