Bloomers celebrate

Dales communities have impressed judges with their flower power.

Six awards were handed out in the Derbyshire Dales as part of this year’s East Midlands in Bloom competition.

In the village catergory, Middleton was awarded silver and Middleton Primary School was awarded the Judges Award for an environmentally firendly classroom.

Bakewell won silver gilt in the small town category and Darley Dale won bronze.

In the same category The business sector of Bakewell and the restoration work at Whitworth Park, in Darley Dale, were also given the Judges Award.

Chairman of Bakewell in Bloom, Julia Zamoyski, said: “This is a tremendous result for Bakewell in Bloom and for the town as a whole.

“Thank you to all who contributed.”
