Campaign bid for the record books

RECORD-BREAKING tree planting will be taking place in Matlock this weekend.

The town's eco group Little Green Space is joining a bid to set a new Guinness world record for planting the most trees in one hour.

The group will be planting native broadleaved trees at a site in Hackney from 11am to 12noon on Saturday as part of its Save the North Pole Christmas campaign.

Richard Bunting, of the group, said: "Christmas is an important time to act on climate change.

"Father Christmas's North Pole home is under serious threat from global warming and Arctic animals, such as the polar bear could face extinction."
