COMMENT: Make sure you’re heard

Few subjects have filled the Mercury postbag like the development of the Bakewell Road site.

Our stories about the selection of the preferred developer for the scheme attracted more letters, emails, Facebook comments and tweets than any other story we’ve run in recent times.

The District Council has been keen to stress that it has only chosen a developer for the scheme and not what will actually be built on the Bakewell Road site.

And this week they have announced the date for a long-awaited public discussion about the scheme, with an open forum taking place on February 27 (see page 5).

It is what you have been asking for, the chance to put across YOUR views on this project which lies at the very heart of Matlock.

Now the council has been as good as its word and delivered the promised consultation, make sure that you take the opportunity to have your voices heard.

This development is too important for the town to get it wrong....
