Cut price security equipment available to Derbyshire Dales residents

A campaign to help Derbyshire Dales residents protect themselves from crime by offering cut-price home security items visits the village of Abney next week.

Officers from Safer Neighbourhood teams in the Bakewell area have been visiting remote villages to give residents there the chance to take up the offer

The mobile police station visits are part of Operation Illuminate, which aims to reduce the risk of burglary over the winter months and darker nights.

The next tour takes them to Abney, near Eyam, on Wednesday, February 6.

Discounted night safety products are also available to local residents at police stations across the Derbyshire Dales, and at Derbyshire Dales District Council offices.

The costs are:

Shed alarms £5 (RRP £8)

Indoor light bulbs £2 (RRP £4)

Outdoor light bulbs £5 (RRP £8)

Timer switches £1 (RRP £4)

Door chimes £1 (RRP £2)

Operation Illuminate is being led by Derbyshire Constabulary and Derbyshire Dales District Council, as part of the Derbyshire Dales Community Safety Partnership.

Police will also be encouraging members of the public to sign up to Derbyshire Alert, a free messaging service that keeps residents up-to-date on advice, crime and policing issues in their area over text , email or voice message.
