Derbyshire Dales joins Sheffield
Derbyshire Dales District Council has become the ninth full member of the Sheffield City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) board.
The decision was given the official go-ahead at a corporate committee meeting on Thursday, January 15.
The Dales falls within the boundaries of two Local Enterprise Partnerships – D2N2 (Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire LEP) and Sheffield City Region.
The District Council’s Derbyshire links will continue to be a priority as D2N2’s activities start to take shape, but the new relationship recognises the economic ties the Dales has with the Sheffield City Region, particularly in the north of the district.
Leader of Derbyshire Dales District Council, Cllr Lewis Rose, said: “Economic development is a high priority for the district council, and Derbyshire Dales is pleased to be officially joining the LEP Board and looks forward to working in collaboration with private and public sector members to further the Sheffield City Region’s economic and employment ambitions.”
Derbyshire Dales District Council covers a large part of the Peak District and includes the towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and Wirksworth.
The District Council joins existing members Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Bassetlaw District Council, Bolsover District Council, Chesterfield Borough Council, Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, North East Derbyshire District Council, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council and Sheffield City Council.
