A GROUP of youngsters from Highfields School have been honoured at a royal awards ceremony.

On Wednesday, November 7, the pupils were named runner-up for the Lafarge Community Award at The Prince’s Trust and Samsung Success Awards.

The event – which was held at the Roundhouse in Derby – recognised the pupils efforts in helping elderly people at Tansley House Residential Home raise money for a new mini-bus.

The pupils achieved this by cooking-up a recipe book inspired by chats with the residents about the food they ate as children.

The book, Peas with Honey, included recipes for numerous meals that Tansley House residents enjoyed as youngsters.

Team member Michaela said: “We are thrilled that we’ve been named runners up in this award – it has been a great experience.”
