Lorry-load of music in Bakewell

MUSIC fans filled a Peak District town centre to hear a lorry-load of bands at an arts festival's tenth anniversary.

The Live on the Lorry event returned to Bakewell Arts Festival, with Dales favourites Corkstone and Wirksworth's Left Hand Drive on the varied line-up.

Left Hand Drive lead singer Chris Carr said: "It was a really nice little gig and a lovely day, with lots of people including kids in Spiderman costumes.

"We did covers and originals but felt people were liking the covers so tried to get them up dancing, which they did.

"It was our first time at the arts festival and we'd definitely go back," Chris added.

Six bands played on the lorry in the Market Square in Bakewell during the day.

Bakewell Arts Festival continues until Sunday. For more details see our Leisure Listings on page 14 or go to www.matlockmercury.co.uk.
