Man found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving
Timothy Collis, of Cromford, who appeared in court at Nottingham charged with dangerous driving after the death of pensioner Florence Crofts at Ambergate in 2011.
A DRIVER has been found guilty of causing the death of a pensioner by dangerous driving.
Timothy Collis of Cromford was given a three-and-a-half-year jail sentence at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday.
It came after Florence Jean Crofts, 78, was killed instantly when she was hit by the VW Beetle driven by Collis on the A6 in Ambergate.
It was heard in court how he had been “driving erratically” ,overtaking two cars at a time, and that he was travelling at 54mph.
Mrs Crofts was hit with such force that she was propelled 50 metres and her legs were severed below the knee.
