Neighbourhood Watch recruits extra volunteers

Two areas in the village of Bradwell now have their own dedicated Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators.

Volunteers signed up to the scheme for the Wortley Court and Towngate areas.

They will be keeping their eyes and ears on those areas and reporting any suspicious or nuisance behaviour to police.

The co-ordinators will also be a point of contact for local residents, who can speak to them about any concerns they have and have their messages passed on to police.

PCSO Anthony Boswell, from Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team, helped recruit the two new volunteers.

He said: “Neighbourhood Watch serves many purposes in our communities, not least in providing reassurance for local residents that their areas are covered.

“The schemes give us quick and easy contact with the community and allow us to give them advice on crime prevention and react to any concerns or crimes promptly.

“We are hoping to expand the Neighbourhood Watch coverage across the Hathersage area and would like to hear from anyone interested in joining a group or setting one up themselves.”

To find out more about your local Neighbourhood Watch scheme or to set one up, contact police on 101.
