Severe weather affects services
The Dales has been hit by heavy snowfall overnight which has caused severe disruptions to roads, services and schools across the county.
The snow will continue through this morning and is forecast to ease by midday but returning later.
Temperatures will stay at zero all day and could even drop to minus one on high ground this afternoon.
Wind will be strong through the day with gusts in most areas making it feel bitterly cold.
A Derbyshire Dales District Council spokesperson has warned that there will be no waste and recycling collections today but advises affected residents to leave bins out as the first date crews will be able to catch up is Sunday, March 24.
However, leisure centres in Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and Wirksworth are all open as normal today, but some cancellations to regular classes are likely if instructors cannot make it in.
Sports hall bookings are now available throughout the day at Wirksworth Leisure Centre because the local Anthony Gell School, which usually books the hall, is closed.
The severe weather has also caused road closures on the A53 between Buxton and Leek, the A537 Cat and Fiddle road between Buxton and Macclesfield, the A57 Snake Pass, the A6024 towards Molme Moss. The A515, however, is passable but motorists are advised to take care.
