Tom Chambers fails to impress Strictly's head judge

Twinkle-toed Tom Chambers gained the second highest score in TV's Strictly Come Dancing programme on Saturday despite facing a backlash of criticism from head judge Len Goodman.

Holby City star Tom and his dance partner Camilla Dallerup presented the judges with a graceful Viennese Waltz to Can't Help Falling in Love with You by Elvis.

Judge Craig Revel-Horwood was impressed, describing the dance as "absolutely gorgeous" and Arlene Philips added: "The relationship of you two dancing together was absolutely fabulous."

But Len Goodman was unconvinced. He said: "I didn't like it too much" pointing to one or two mistakes Tom had made in his performance.

Bruno Tonioli however praised the Darley Dale born actor saying the secret to his success was he had "covered the mistakes up with such assurance."

Tom gained 32 points placing him joint second with S Club's Rachel Stevens and just two points behind dancing king Austin Healey.

The performance came after a busy week for Tom, who was married at a Derbyshire ceremony on Sunday October 19.

Tom and his new bride Clare were joined by Camilla on their honeymoon so he could continue his lessons.
