Volunteer scheme extended to include adult care

A scheme offering free training and recognition to volunteers who want to work with adults has been launched.

The Derbyshire Volunteer Passport Scheme, launched in 2011 for people who wanted to work with children and young people, has been extended to cover people who want to volunteer with adults.

The scheme was developed by Derbyshire County Council in partnership with the voluntary sector with the aim of giving people the skills they need to work with people.

Volunteers are offered five free half–day training sessions covering a range of relevant areas and successful candidates receive a Volunteer Passport ID badge and an accreditation certificate.

To apply for a Volunteer Passport visit www.derbyshire.gov.uk/passport.

Alternatively, you can pick up a leaflet from your local volunteer centre, fill in the form and send it back or call the council on 01629 532093.
