Voters are taking to the polls to elect Derbyshire’s first-ever Police and Crime Commissioner.

Polling stations have opened across the county as residents get the chance to vote for who they want to be in charge of overseeing policing in the county.

The elections are taking place until 10pm today and results are expected to be announced tomorrow with the new PCC taking up the £85,000-a-year role at the end of the month.

PCCs will be responsible for hiring and dismissing chief constables and deciding force budgets.
