Your views needed on Bakewell conservation

Residents and businesses have a chance to give their views on a draft update of Bakewell Conservation Area.

Bakewell Conservation Area was originally designated in 1980, and five minor amendments are proposed to the boundary, partly to accommodate changes since then.

One of the proposed boundary amendments is to incorporate the Grade II listed workshop to the former Lumford Mill, thought to have been ancillary to the Arkwright mill which burnt down in 1868.

Another tidies up part views of the boundary which currently cuts across the car park in Market Street.

People can see the draft appraisal at www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/bakewellconservationarea or at Bakewell Town Hall, Bakewell Visitor Centre or the Authority’s headquarters at Aldern House, Baslow Road, Bakewell.

They can also talk to conservation officers at an open session on Tuesday February 5, between 3.30pm and 7.30pm, in the Court Room, Bakewell Town Hall. Written comments should be sent to the Cultural Heritage Team, Aldern House, Baslow Road, Bakewell, DE45 1AE, or emailed to customer.service@peakdistrict.gov.uk by March 1.
