The developers behind plans for 66 new houses in Chapel-en-le-Frith have agreed to reduce the time a busy road in the town is closed for sewer installation works.

Residents and local councillors were up in arms after discovering that Long Lane was due to be closed for six months between June and December so that a new sewer could be installed for the Seddon development.

But after discussions between the company and locals, it has now been agreed to re-route the sewer, so that only a short section of Long Lane, from the housing development to the junction with Station Road, will need to be closed, with diversions in place via Cromwell Avenue and Alston Road.
