The latest meeting of the High Peak Business Club takes place on Thursday, January 21, from 7.30am.

The talk at the meeting will be entitled Growth: Cleared for Take Off! and will be given by Adam Jupp, Head of External Affairs at Manchester Airport

While the row over the proposed new runway for Heathrow trundles on (no new full-length airstrip has been built to serve London since WWII), up north rapid growth is forecast for our premier airport.

Manchester Airports Group (MAG), which includes East Midlands, Bournemouth and Stansted, looks after 48m passengers a year, employs over 30,000 people and belongs to ten Greater Manchester Councils and an Australian investment fund; its registered business address is Manchester Town Hall.

Strong inward investment, particularly from China, is funding the new £800m Airport City, including retail, cargo, a science park and a low-tax Enterprise Zone; work has already started on improved transport links and the World Logistics Hub. Not bad for a municipal enterprise.

Time for High Peak Business Club to find out more. The speaker is the newly appointed Adam Jupp, Head of External Affairs at MAG. Come and hear his presentation, put questions to him, see what’s flying over the horizon.

The group gathers for breakfast at Chapel-en-le-Frith Golf Club, Manchester Road, Chapel-en-le-Frith. Coffee, pastries and juice will be available from 7.30am, speaker presentation and questions between 8am–9am, then more coffee and bacon baps, finishing by 9.30am.

There’s no membership charge, but for each meeting it’s £25, payable in advance, by BACs or by cheque to HPBC to 28 Whaley Lane, Whaley Bridge, High Peak, SK23 7BA. Anyone in business will be most welcome.
