Dales artists are being urged to get creative about local life and landscapes and enter Derbyshire County Council’s Open Art Competition.
The competition has been running for 32 years and is open to amateur and professional artists of all ages.
Entries should show why Derbyshire is special –subjects can be landscapes, views of a town, local people, representations of local legends or still life.
Artists are invited to use a variety of mediums including oils, acrylics, watercolours, drawings, collages, photographs, manipulated digital imagery or three-dimensional work.
Prizes totalling £2,350, including a £750 first prize, are up for grabs along with the opportunity to display work at the county council’s Buxton Museum and Art Gallery which is running the competition. Artists can submit up to two works to the museum on Terrace Road between 10am and 4.30pm on June 13 or 14. Visit derbyshire.gov.uk/buxtonmuseum for an entry form or send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Buxton Museum, Terrace Road, Buxton SK17 6DA.
