A Belper-based firm joined giants of the care home industry after being nominated for a national award.

Milford Care, based at Springwood Gardens, Belper, was shortlisted for the “Residential Care Provider of the Year Award” at the Health Investor Awards at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

The firm, which owns five care homes, was nominated alongside national care groups such as HC One, Barchester Healthcare and Caring Homes.

And despite not scooping first prize, Milford Care director Pierre Falleth, said the firm had lots to be proud of.

“At Milford Care we are completely driven by our residents choices and the exceptional service we provide has been evidenced by the numerous awards and accolades we have won over the years including; ‘Best Healthcare Development’, ‘Yours Regional Care Home of the Year’, ‘Healthcare Design Award’ and ‘Best Care Group in Central England.” he said.

Established in 1985, Milford Care runs Spencer Grove Care Home and Lady Well Views Close Care Retirement Apartments in Belper as well as Milford House Care Home in Milford.

It also owns homes in Hucknall, Alfreton and Arnold in Nottingham.

The company has previously enjoyed success at the Great British Care Awards - with 11 national finalists in the last five years and won Best Caring Home in Central England 2009 from Yours Magazine.
