A desperate man who cut his wrist with a knife in Tesco while drinking stolen Martini has been given a community order.

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Thursday, August 7, how Philip Marriott, 40, of Chaucer Road, Newbold, Chesterfield, was spotted at Tesco, on Lockoford Lane, Chesterfield.

Prosecuting solicitor John Cooper said the manager said Marriott was sitting with a knife and a bottle of Martini and he noticed a cut near the defendant’s right wrist.
