Staff and students at Hope Valley College are one step closer to making their ideas a reality after winning through to the final of a national competition.

The School We’d Like competition, organised by Zurich Municipal and run in conjunction with The Guardian, invites students and teachers to develop an idea that would improve the quality of life for their school community.

Hope Valley College is now one of the final four in its category and stands the chance of winning £5,000 to put its idea for a water wheel to generate electricity for the school into action.
