Groups that use Loundsley Green Community Centre received a cash boost when Derbyshire County Councillors presented them with a cheque for £2,200.

Councillors Jean Innes, Stuart Brittain and Ron Mihaly provided the money from the Members Community Leadership scheme.

Cllr Brittain said: “The Leadership Scheme gives Councillors the opportunity to support community groups that need money for worthwhile projects.

“Loundsley Green Community Trust is a great example of volunteers coming together to provide invaluable services for all members of the local community and we are delighted to support their work in this way.”

Lisa said “Most of this money will be used to renovate the floor in the main hall. There have been many improvements made to the centre over the last 18 months but toddlers like ours need a fresh clean floor to play on so this grant is really welcome. The kids will really appreciate it.”

Loundsley Green Community Trust took over the Centre in June 2011. Since then they have raised money from many sources to refurbish and modernise the building and make it suitable for the many community groups that now meet there and the projects which the Trust specifically supports.

In addition to the Parents and Toddlers group, the trust supports a weekly Youth Club, the Young at Heart group, the Let’s Cook Together project providing teaching in cookery skills, and Enterprise Coaching helping people back into work through self-employment. Find out more at www.lgct.org.uk.
