THE PEAK 4x4 Response group has once again made a vital contribution as they were out and about across the county using their 4x4s to help people affected by the recent snowy and icy conditions.
Its volunteers responded at the request of Derbyshire County Council’s Emergency Planning Office to offer logistical support alongside their own resources.
The group took over 50 calls for assistance during the recent bad weather including taking key care workers to their place of work and transporting home help workers to all their clients in remote areas of the county that were not accessible to normal road vehicles.
Volunteers were also involved in recovering stranded cars and other weather-related problems.
Peak 4x4 Response provides 4x4 support in adverse conditions to local authorities and emergency services across the Peak District and Derbyshire.
To join or just support the group visit www.peak4x4response.org for details. Those without a 4x4 can still volunteer and support the group in any number of other ways.
