Iconic locos draw 6,000 visitors to Barrow Hill Roundhouse

Six thousand visitors flocked to see two iconic locomotives at Barrow Hill Roundhouse.

The two engines, A4 4489 Dwight D Eisenhower and A4 60008 Dominion of Canada, were unveiled last weekend at the centre.

Two iconic steam locomotives visit Chesterfields Barrow Hill Roundhouse. Unveiling of a plaque commemorating Bittern's historic 90mph runs in 2013 in honour of Mallard's world steam speed record in July 1938. The A4 will be lined up alongside its sister A4s visiting from Canada and America and A2 Blue Peter.

Visitors saw the locos in a genuine working engine shed environment before their return to America and Canada next month.
