Learn to save lives and be part of a world record attempt at the same time.

The principal aim is to equip as many people as possible within the community with the simple skills to save a life in an emergency situation.

This free training session will take place on Friday, June 27, at Shirebrook Academy.

Around 1300 schoolchildren from across the district are already registered on the course and organisers need at least another 400 people to help them become record breakers.

Bolsover District Council is working in partnership with Shirebrook Academy, The Community Save a Life Scheme and the British Heart Foundation to attempt to train the largest number of people in emergency life support skills in one place at one time.

All participants will receive a certificate and a wrist band and be able to keep, at a ratio of around 1:2, the Mini Anne reusable resuscitation mannequins for future classroom or club training sessions, as 1000 of these have been provided free of charge by the British Heart Foundation for this event.

Derby County Football Club are also backing this event and the children will be joined in the session by Rammie, the club’s mascot!

Sponsorship has been received from Johnson bros tours who are bussing children to the event from other schools around the district.

Anyone wishing to come along and learn these life saving skills free of charge and be a record breaker can contact Jane Shone at Bolsover District Council on 01246 242366 or Councillor Deborah Watson on 07817 288953 or just arrive at Shirebrook Academy on the 27th between 9am and 9.30am. The event will finish around 12 noon.
