An alcoholic has admitted stealing more than £100 worth of whiskey from Marks and Spencers in Glossop because he said he couldn’t afford to pay for his fix.

Nathan Sassen pleaded guilty to four counts of theft and on count of breaching a conditional discharge at High Peak Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The 39-year-old, of Stanley Road, Manchester, targeted the retailer on four occasions, between November 11 and Febuary 24, stealing two bottles of Jack Daniels, to the value of £42, on the first three instances.
