Sinking ship

Vandalism was thought to have been responsible for the sinking of the Cromford Canal Society’s four ton dredger.

Members – who are pictured here huddled together on a wintry day in the 1980’s – had been busy preparing for the opening season when they made the shocking discovery and work had to be delayed for several weeks as they rebuilt the diesel engine and the hydraulic power unit.
