Two mates have come up with a novel way of documenting their trip-of-a-lifetime around Europe.

Jason Maxey and Matthew Taylor will take 1,000 selfies during their 18-day summer holiday.

The lads are set leave Chesterfield next Friday – after snapping a selfie in front of the Crooked Spire – and go on to visit nine countries including Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam.

They aim to take a staggering 55 selfies a day alongside famous landmarks, paintings and local folk.

Jason, 21, of Grassmoor, and Matthew, 22, from Lower Pilsley, said: “We’re doing this challenge as a bit of fun.

“It makes a change from typical boring holiday photos and it’ll help us make this trip one to remember for the rest of our lives.

“We’ve been best friends for more than ten years since meeting at school and we’re never afraid of a challenge,” they added.

Upon their return home, the boys will upload a YouTube video featuring all their selfies for the world to see.

In all, they will visit London, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Bratislava, Geneva, St Raphael and Monaco.
