The US investor in a £400million tourism development which promises to boost trade in the Peak District and Derbyshire has said he is ‘excited’ about creating a world class leisure resort.

John Cullen, president of the Grand Heritage Hotel Group, said: “Grand Heritage Hotel Group has agreed with Birchall Properties and Edge Worldwide, Ltd. to create a world class leisure resort on 300 acres in Derbyshire.

“Grand Heritage will manage and invest directly in the £400m new development project that includes 600 hotel rooms and 250 woodland lodges.”

He added: “I am very excited for Grand Heritage to return to investing in United Kingdom hospitality projects and this US/UK joint venture may well be the start of several further developments.”

David Cameron is expected to announce the investment in the Peak Resort project, which is planned for a former mining site in Unstone, near Dronfield, during his visit to the US this week.
