Dramatic online footage has emerged of bailiffs smashing their way into a Derbyshire woman’s home and evicting her in an alleged row over roof stones.

In the Youtube video, entitled “Teacher vs BAILIFFS”, the bailiffs are seen hacking away at Rekha Patel’s door with a shovel while police look on and bystanders plead with them to stop.

Rekha Patel is believed to be a maths teacher at Glossopdale Community College and has since posted documents revealing that she was evicted from her 300-year-old Glossop property after refusing to pay legal bills.

The fees were accumulated during a civil case with her neighbour who accused her of cutting roof stones which he claimed were a “rare architectural feature”. The judge ruled in the neighbour’s favour and Rekha was refused an appeal, landing her with fees of more than £70,000.

Posting on Facebook, Rekha said she was “overwhelmed” with the support she had received after being evicted from the property, which she bought in 2011 and says is still legally hers.

The Derbyshire Times has attempted to contact Rekha for comment.
