Temperatures across Derbyshire are set to soar to double figures today thanks to Caribbean air.

Parts of the county will be warmer than Venice and Istanbul, according to weather experts at the Met Office.

It’s going to be a marked change and people will feel the difference

The best temperature is likely to be in Chesterfield, where the mercury will rise to 12C. It will be dry with some sunshine.

Simon Partridge, of the Met Office, predicted a “marked change” to the weather on Saturday as spring finally gets underway after a chilly week.

He said: “The mild weather is coming in from the South West, which originated in the Caribbean area and across the Atlantic.

“It’s going to be a marked change and people will feel the difference. In some parts of the country people are going to be having a very pleasant day compared to the weather in the last few weeks.”
