DEDICATION and hard work was celebrated as a 94-year-old volunteer marked more than 50 years of service.

Dorothy Wain of Bakewell received a long service medal for her work with the WRVS, at a ceremony in Stanton in the Peak village hall on March 22.

Mrs Wain was presented with the accolade by Anne Ledbetter, area manager of the charity.

Dorothy set up Stanton in the Peak Darby and Joan Club 52 years ago, before handing the reins over to her

daughter June Wildgoose.

The Club which covers Bakewell, Darley Dale, Matlock, Birchover and Stanton has enjoyed outings and holidays for the last 50 years.

Dorothy still enjoys the fortnighly meetings, outings and holidays.
