Man arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation following Chesterfield house fire

Firefighters from Staveley, Chesterfield and Bolsover, supported by an aerial ladder platform, were called to a fire at a two storey semi-detached property on Hillman Drive, Inkersall, at 3.56am on Wednesday, April 17. Officers from Derbyshire police were also called to attend.
Upon arrival, crews discovered a fire in the roof space of the property. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet and one main line jet to extinguish the fire.

Hide AdA man was taken to hospital for minor burns and smoke inhalation. His injuries were not thought to be serious and he has since been discharged.
A joint police and fire investigation into the cause of the fire has determined it to be accidental with the most probable cause being the misappropriation of electrics.
Following the incident, a 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation and the abstraction of electricity. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
