A man has been injured after an explosion at a derelict petrol station in Derbyshire.

Emergency services were called to the site, in Tamworth Road, Long Eaton, shortly before 12.30pm today (Thursday, April 7) following reports of a small explosion.

One man, thought to be in his 40s and working at the site, suffered burns and has been taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre for treatment.

Tamworth Road was closed for a short time but is now open.
