Man is charged with shoplifting from Boots in Matlock

A 29-year-old man has been charged with shoplifting and going equipped for theft after cosmetic items were allegedly stolen from a chemist.

Police were called via Shopwatch radio to Boots the Chemist, in Causeway Lane, Matlock, after reports that a man had left the store without paying for a number of items.

Officers arrested Michael Bean nearby and he has been charged with shoplifting and going equipped for theft.

Bean, who is from the Matlock area, has been bailed and will appear at North East Derbyshire and Dales Magistrates’ Court on August 28.

The incident took place at about 1.45pm on Wednesday, July 17.
