Matlock looks back at old Lido

Matlock’s former Lido is shown here in all its glory as an open air swimming pool.

The facility was opened to the public in May 1938, costing £12,000 to build.

In the 1970s Derbyshire Dales District Council put a roof on the pool.

Over the years to condition of the pool deteriorated and it was replaced last year by the state–of–the–art Arc Leisure Centre, off Bakewell Road.

The Lido closed its doors for the final time in August and was demolished last week.
