Dangerous Dillon, an eight year old border terrier gave his owners a fright yesterday when the poor pup fell during a walk up to High Tor.

Derby Mountain Rescue Team was called to Matlock Bath at around 1pm on Thursday July 23 to help a Peak Ranger search for Dillon, who had fallen over the edge of the path up to High Tor while being walked by his ‘mum’.

Dillon is reunited with his owner and carries on with his walk.

The rescuers said: “It was initially feared that he might have fallen to the bottom of the crag as he couldn’t be seen or heard from the top.

“The team searched the bottom of the crag but fortunately he was found safe and well on a small ledge around 20 feet below the path, and was placed in one of the team’s equipment bags as a make shift dog harness, and carried back to the top, with the team using a simple rope system for safety.

“Dillon was reunited with his party and after a few biscuits and lots of cuddles was able to continue the rest of his walk.”
