A MAN has appeared in court charged with murdering Alexander Blick who was found dead in the grounds of Matlock library.

Michael Wayne Carroll, 43, of Rutland Street in Matlock, appeared in Chesterfield Magistrates Court today (Thursday, October 20).

He has been remanded in custody and is set to appear in Nottingham Crown Court tomorrow.

The body of Alexander Blick, who lived in Matlock Bath, was discovered by a member of the public at about 10.50am on Sunday, October 16 in the grounds of the library in Steep Turnpike.

A post mortem examination, carried out on Monday, revealed that the 42-year-old died as a result of head injuries.
