YOUNG footballers will be able to develop their skills thanks to a donation from generous Rotarians.

Girls from Wirksworth Junior School were handed a cheque for £100 on Friday from Wirksworth Rotary Club.

The girls were keen to develop their football skills, but found that lunchtime football was often dominated by the boys,

The Rotary Club stepped in to enable a new set of goal posts to be bought specifically for use by the girls.

Along with lunchtime coaching sessions delivered free of charge by qualified coaches, the new goals will help the girls increase their confidence and develop their skills.

Head of year six, Rachel Payne said:“Who knows, thanks to this generous gift, one of our girls may end up captaining the England Women’s football team in future.

“So look out boys…. Here come the girls.”
