Community heroes were praised in New Mills Town Hall on Saturday at Revival Church’s awards ceremony.
Nominees for each category were announced with a series of film clips, before the winners were presented with a New Mills honour award.
The first award of the evening, extra mile, went to the owners of Pride of the Peaks, Shellie Hagan and Kev Goodwin, for their fundraising towards numerous local causes, including the elderly.
Next up was the tremendous teenager award, won by Matthew Park, nominated for his role as junior leader of Kids Life at Revival Church, on High Street.
The caring heart award was presented to Rachel Monteath, who was recognised for her generous volunteer efforts, including helping with New Mills Women’s Group.
Football coach Mike Taylor was named children’s champion, for his life-long dedication to grassroots football, which continues to inspire both players and coaches.
And the unsung hero accolade was awarded to Maggie Cole, for her tireless support of the Torrs Hydro and Solar Schools initiatives.
Brian Westhead, event organiser, said he hoped that the awards would inspire others to get involved and volunteer in the community.
The awards, now in their second year, will return in 2016.
