AN action group against NHS reforms has been set up in Wirksworth.
Over 200 people packed the town’s Imperial Rooms to discuss the Government shake-up of the health service – and a campaign against the proposals has been launched with a demonstration planned in the town on March 26.
Doctors opposing the reforms called the event, on Monday, to give residents a chance to have their say.
After hearing an outline of the plans and their implications, from retired GP Dr Jill Rapaport and Dr Ian Lawrence, the majority of those present, expressed concerns with fears about privatisation, less choice and fewer services.
Residents are set to write to Derbyshire Dales MP Patrick McLoughlin and to the Prime Minister, urging them to reconsider the Bill.
