A Peak campaigner has been honoured with an award.
Julia Bradbury, president of Friends of the Peak District has won the People’s Campaigner Award National Trust’s Octavia Hill Awards.
The prize celebrates a person in the public spotlight who has championed an issue or cause.
“I’m thrilled that programmes such as Countryfile and The Great British Countryside have inspired people to get out there and have provoked an interest in our landscape and our truly unique countryside,” said Julia.
“The countryside played a huge part in my growing up, and Friends of the Peak District’s work to protect the Peak District is very close to my heart.”
The local charity’s trustee Yvonne Witter is runner up of the Inspirational Hero Award which celebrates someone who is inspiring and nurturing the next generation of countryside enthusiasts.
Yvonne is also a volunteer Community Champion with the campaign for National Park’s mosaic project, which has successfully built links between black and minority ethnic communities, and national parks.
