A 71-year-old man refused to hand over his possessions when he was confronted by a teen in an attempted robbery.

On Tuesday, August 22 around 4.30pm the pensioner was walking along the High Peak Trail Appeal towards Old Lane in Wirksworth, when he was confronted by a youth.

A Derbyshire Police spokesman said: “The youth threatened the man and asked him to hand over his possessions. The man refused and the youth ran off towards a wooded area.

“The youth was described as between 15-19 years-old, 5ft 6ins tall, white and was wearing grey jogging bottoms, a black hooded top and a scarf which covered the bottom half of his face.”
