Youngsters are celebrating after receiving some special gifts from their local retailer.

After appealing to businesses for new equipment to make their recreational area more fun, Bakewell Infant School now has an outdoor storytelling chair and tricycles thanks to the Midlands Co–operative store, in Market Street.

Head teacher Tricia Outram said: “The children now have new tricycles for use in the playground and a storytelling chair. We are delighted with our new equipment which will make a real difference to our pupils.”

The school, in Bath Street, benefited from a donation of £1,200 for the play equipment from Midlands Co-operative’s Making a Difference Community Dividend fund.
