Sometime between 5pm on Friday, March 21 and 8.45am on Monday, March 24 offenders forced open the locks of two main entrance gates to the school.

The damage caused to the double entrance gates and the pedestrian entrance gate at Castle View Primary School on School Road, has stopped them from working properly.

Clare Peat, Headteacher at Castle View Primary School said: “As a school we are committed to providing the best provision for our children and we have been very upset by recent vandalism to our children’s playing field and the school site.

“The governors and I have been looking forward to installing permanent play equipment, which the children have been wanting for so long.

“However the recent vandalism is stopping us and meaning that valuable school budget is being spent on repairs rather than the needs of the children.”

Officers from Matlock Safer Neighbourhood Team are urging residents in the area to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity or anti-social behaviour to police straight away.
